The Better Mascara?

I think that mascara completes any makeup look, and if I'm honest without it my eyes feel naked. For today's post I'm going to be comparing four mascaras that each have their own pro's and con's.

Maybelline Rocket Mascara - £7.99

I am a huge fan of all Maybelline mascaras I've tried and this is no exception. This mascara claims to be volumizing rather than lengthening. I prefer to go for volumizing mascaras because I find them to hold a curl better. You can use numerous coats of this mascara and it won't go clumpy. The wand is fat with short bristles, which really helps to separate your lashes and give a natural yet voluminous look. However if your looking for length then I wouldn't recommend this.

Clinique High Impact Mascara - £16.50

This is more on the expensive side of a mascara I would usually pick up, however I got it in one of the gift sets. I have never tried Clinique mascara so I didn't really know what to expect. In my honest opinion for the money I don't think this mascara is worth it. It does lengthen your lashes. However I don't really feel it gives me the volume I like, it's for that reason I wouldn't recommend it. Also the brush has very thick bristles and it is the actual brush wand, when I prefer the plastic wands. I find you can't apply to many coats without it going clumpy, although it does thicken up your lashes as a second coat mascara. Overall I think this mascara is overpriced for what it is.

Benefit They're Real Mascara - £19.50

The Benefit They're Real mascara is super hyped up in the bloggersphere. As you can tell I only have the sample size as it is very expensive mascara. However it is one of my favourites. Like the Rocket it is a plastic wand, so really separates your lashes whilst keeping them thick. This mascara is meant to do everything; volumize, thicken and lengthen. I can truly say it does all three, I love the way it leaves my lashes and it can hold a curl all day. The only bad thing I have to say about this mascara is that the bristles are quite sharp so it almost really like your poking yourself in the eye each time you apply it! But that aside this is a great mascara and I'm definitely looking to pick up the full size.

No7  Exquisite Curl Mascara - £12.95

Like the Clinique mascara's I have never tried No7 mascara's, however when I went into Boots I saw this in the sale section for £5 so I couldn't pass it up. I was slightly disappointed as yes it does claim to hold a curl which it does however it does nothing else for my lashes. I just adds black to it, it doesn't noticeably lengthen or volumizes. The brush is quite thick and is curved which helps your lashes hold a curl for longer. Although it gives your lashes a fluttery effect, I wouldn't recommend this mascara. I think that all No7 mascaras are slightly overpriced for what they are, I would sooner buy a Maybelline mascara for better quality that's cheaper.

Those are the four mascaras I will be comparing, They're are some great ones and some bad ones. But when I find a good mascara I tend to stick to it for a while and am too lazy to find a new one. I hope you enjoyed this post and thank you for reading.

The Better Concealer?

Hello everyone. Concealer plays a big part in my everyday makeup routine, if I wear makeup I cannot go without it. It can make your skin look so much more awake and healthy. Today I am going to be comparing two drugstore concealers: the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer and the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer.

Each of these concealers is widely available in places such as Boots or Superdrug. Although both of these prices are affordable and within most peoples budget, there is a price gap between them. The Collection Lasting Perfection retails for £4.19, which is a steal for any concealer. Whereas the Fit Me is slightly more expensive at £5.99, but still affordable. 

The Maybelline Fit Me concealer compared to the Lasting Perfection has a much wider shade range and they have shades specifically for yellow undertones and pink undertoned skin. They overall shading of the concealer is amazing it offers so a wide range of shades that would suit most skin tones. Mine is in the shade '15' which is the palest pink undertone they offer and it matches me perfectly. This concealer is very creamy and the consistency is quite runny, which means it is easily blended but doesn't leave your skin looking oily afterwards. Like the Lasting Perfection it has a dope foot applicator, which is really convenient. I use this concealer on an everyday basis on blemishes and under my eyes to conceal dark circles. It covers really well and I would say it has a medium coverage. Under my eyes the concealer does tend to crease slightly, however it isn't anything to major. It will tend to split and spread on my blemishes if I don't top up with powder, but it keeps it's coverage throughout the day nicely.

The Lasting Perfection Concealer doesn't have a great shade range, I believe there are three overall shades, which don't go very dark. As you can see from the picture the palest shade 'fair' is a lot paler than the Fit Me Concealer, so it would be good for people with very pale skin, like myself. This formula of this concealer is much thicker compared to the Fit Me, it also sets a lot quicker, so you have less time to blend it into your skin. Again this concealer comes with a dope foot applicator, which is really practical. I would say it is high coverage, as it covers everything! I would use this if I were having a bad skin day. I don't tend to apply this under my eyes as I personally feel like it can cake up and crease very easily. Less is definitely more with this concealer otherwise you can look really caked up if you apply too much. This product is great if you have oily skin as it sets with quite a matte finish, however if you have dry skin I wouldn't recommend this as it does tend to stick to dry patches. Like the name suggests the lasting power of this concealer is amazing, because of it's matte finish it lasts all day.

Overall between these two concealer I would have to choose the Maybelline Fit Me as I prefer the formula of it. The collection is too heavy of a coverage for me and I don't like the caked look, it can sometimes give on my skin. I feel the Fit Me to be a much more natural looking concealer, and much more easily blendable. I know each of these concealers are favourites for many bloggers out their, and this is just my personal opinion. Everyone's skin is different. Eos VS Baby Lips

Hello everyone, today I thought I would compare the two most hyped drugstore lip balms: Eos and Baby lips. Considering these are only lip balms they are considerably hyped up for what they are. Eos hit the American shelves a while back, and were immediately featured on YouTube favorites for their unusual egg shape and appeal. A few years later Baby Lips also hit America and again the American blogging industry went crazy for them, bloggers and vloggers ended up buying every single flavour released to make sure they didn't miss out.

It's only recently that both Eos and Baby Lips have been made available in the UK, the Baby Lips were released the summer 2013 and Eos only recently available in Selfridges and in other stores in London. Accessibility wise I think Baby Lips win it as they are now widely available in almost all Stores that sell drugstore beauty. 

Baby Lips have six different flavours available in the UK however more collections in the US, and when I went I picked up a further three tinted ones from the normal line, Electro line and Dr Rescue line. Overall I don't feel the Baby Lips to be anything special, they don't really moisturize my lips a great deal apart from the Dr Rescue line which gives more moisture as they are medicated for sore lips. The clear Baby Lips do not have the wow factor and are just plain lip balms which I find to be quite sticky and sit on top of your lips rather than sinking into them. However the tinted range really give a nice flush of sheer tint to the lips and they do have a wide colour range if you include the American lines, but when it comes to lip balm I look for moisture over colour. Baby Lips are well in my price range and are highly affordable at £2.99 each, which is the average price for a lip balm to cost. My overall favourite is the grape vine which is a sheer purple shade, I purposely like it only for the tint it gives on your lips and unfortunately this shade isn't yet available in the UK, the grape vine also smells amazing as do all the other Baby Lips but some do smell better than others.

Eos lip balms on the other hand have numerous flavours available, it's just getting hold of them that's the problem. Only a few are available in the UK, in some Selfridges stores and other stores in London however if you are desperate for them I recommend ordering them online. The Eos don't have tinted lipbalms just clear moisturizing ones. Can I just say though the packaging is adorable and I love it compared to the Baby Lips, I love the concept of it being an egg shape and how you are able to just chuck it in your bag and go. The products themselves last a great amount of time and the ones I picked up in America still haven't gone down. The consistency of the Eos is creamy and you can tell it is moisturizing your lips and sinking in, whereas the Baby Lips feels like it just sits on top. The lasting power of them is great and I find myself only applying it twice a day when I use it. However when it comes to price, it lets them down as in the UK from what I could find they were £5.99 - £7.99 which is ridiculously expensive for a lip balm in my opinion, in america they retail for around $4.99 which again can be a little pricey for what they are. However they are imported from America and that is why the prices have had to have been brought up considerably. All the flavours give off a scent to match their flavour and my favourite has to be sweet mint, which smells like after eights! 

Out of the two I would have to choose the Eos Lipbalms mainly because of the moisture they give to your lips and their packaging, I mean who could resist? Although the price is slightly higher I just generally prefer the Eos as an overall product compared to the Baby Lips, which is ironic because I own 6 Baby Lips and only 4 Eos. I wish that Eos were made more widely available for people like me who live miles away from any shops that stock them.
