Rimmel London | Brand Focus

Hello everyone and today I am back for yet another Brand Focus, I have recently been loving writing these sort of posts, I hope you like to read them! 

This brand focus is going to be based on Rimmel London, which in my opinion is a very hyped up drugstore brand. You hear more about Maybelline and Revlon these days. However Rimmel is still a good quality, affordable brand.

One thing I feel Rimmel is widely know for is their eyeliners. They offer a range of amazing well pigmented eyeliners. I have three: two liquids and one kohl. The first one I have is the Rimmel Scandal Eyes Liquid Liner in 'Black', if I am honest I don't really like this particular eyeliner. It has a really small nib, which is great for precision but not the easiest of applications. I also found it dried up really quickly and didn't last long at all. 

The next I have is the Rimmel London Exaggerate Liquid Liner , this is more of a runnier formula and because of that really glides onto the lids with easy application. I much prefer the nib on this, although it is fat you can altar the width of the line with ease. It is also jet black, stays on your lids and doesn't flake off.

The last eyeliner I have is the Rimmel London Scandal Eyes Kohl Eyeliner in 'Nude', I apply this on my waterline and it really helps brighten your eyes up and make them appear bigger. This isn't hard on you eyes it is a smooth application and glides well into your eyes and waterline.

Next I have the Rimmel Professional Eyebrow Pencil in 'Ash', again this is another let down product for me. I don't like this pencil as it doesn't blend well and it isn't soft. It is a really hard pencil and doesn't come of well onto your brows unless you warm it up. Even after that personally on my brows doesn't give a natural look, but a drawn on look. I think I may have got the wrong shade though as many people seem to love it.

The most raved about product by Rimmel has to be their Stay Matte Pressed Powder. This is the only powder I use and I think it is an  amazing drugstore powder. Out of all of the powders I have used, this is by far my favourtie. I keeps your skin matte throughout the day and prevents excess oil build up. It also helps your makeup from creasing and stay on all day.

I them have a Rimmel Single Shadow in 'Jet Black', I use this shadow to sometimes set my eyeliner if I am wearing any on the waterline, I also like to smudge it out on my lower lash line. This shadow is well pigmented and is smooth to go onto the lid. However I do find it to be a little chalky textured when applying it. But all round I think for the shade I have it is an OK eye shadow, but nothing special.

Lastly I have a Rimmel Top Coat. I love this topcoat and will use it on its own too for school. It gives a really nice finish to any nail polish and it prevent your polish from chipping. When I don't wear this top coat I notice my nail polish I'm wearing will chip after a day, but when I wear it they can last for up to a week without chipping! I think this an amazing top coat for the price!

Overall I think Rimmel is an underrated brand and offers a lot of really good products, but then again some not so good but it's the same for all brands. I would recommend you try something out from Rimmel, although it isn't my favourite brand it might be yours. Thank you for reading and I hope you enjoyed this post.

Simple Skincare | Brand Focus

Hello everyone and welcome to another brand focus, this one is going to be based around simple skincare. I am a firm lover of all simple skincare and I'm going to give you an overview of all the products I own. Simple products are highly affordable and it is available at a range of different stores. It is one of the cult drugstore favourite skincare ranges for bloggers and many other people.  It is one of few skincare brands that offer no added chemicals to their products and that is why they are aimed at sensitive skin.

The first product I own is the Simple Brightening Eye Cream, this product is from the radiance range simple does. This is the only product from that range I have currently tried, however I'm not to keen on this product. I don't notice it to do anything major to my under eye area, it doesn't really brighten them but it does add simmer which really casts of in the light. For that reason I never wear it in the day as I don't like to look like I've put full on glitter under my eyes. However it does soothe your eye area and reduce puffiness.

The next products are all from the Kind To Skin Range by Simple which has to be my favourite. The first product I have is the Simple Deep Cleansing Face Mask. This is a cream based mask so aswell as being deep cleaning it also offers moisture to your skin. It doesn't really set onto your face, you just leave it for 10 minutes and rinse. I love how this mask leaves my skin feeling soft because of the moisture but I can feel that it has also deep cleaned my pores.

Next I have the Simple Soothing Facial Toner. I am a firm believer in following up cleansing with toning and this is the current toner I always reach for and I have gone through numerous bottles of it! It really does soothe your skin and helps get rid of any residue left by the cleanser. I don't have a bad word to say against it.

The Simple Kind to Eyes Nourishing Eye Makeup Remover is the best eye makeup remover I've tried. It doesn't irritate my eyes and it does a really good job at removing all traces of makeup even waterproof mascara. The fact that it's cream formula also means that you don't have to rub at your eyes as much, which can help reduce dark circles.

My all time favourite moisturizer (considering I've only ever used two different ones) is the Simple Hydrating Light Moisturizer. It is great for all year round as it's not too heavy for in the summer, but it still really moisturizes your skin throughout the winter months. It doesn't leave my skin feeling greasing and skins into the skin almost immediately.

Overall I would highly recommend Simple as a skincare brand to anyone, their products are amazing quality and offer so many benefits for the skin. I would recommend Simple if you are just branching out into skincare as they offer everything you will need at affordable prices. I hope you enjoyed this post. Brand Focus | Maybelline

Hello everyone and welcome to another brand focus, today the focus is Maybelline. Maybelline seems to be one of the most hyped up drugstore brands in the UK, mainly for their mascaras and baby lips. They have had so many recent releases which have been so popular throughout the blogosphere. 

The first product I own is the Maybelline Baby Skin Pore Eraser, this is one of the most recent releases to Maybelline. I have already done a full post on it here, but in a nut shell this is a great primer that mattifies your skin and erases all visible pores. However since writing the review I found it to be a cause of my breakouts on my skin, I think this is because it contains silicone which has a tendency to break people out and clog your pores.

Then for bases I have the BB Cream by Maybelline. This product is really light wieght on your skin and doesn't cake up. It is a very sheer coverage, for that reason I like to wear it in the summer when I want less procuct on my skin. It also has SPF 30 which is an added bonus. One thing I would say about this procduct is that the shade range isn't very good and the lightest shade is still quite orange on pale skin like mine.

One of my favourite products is the Maybelline Fit Me Concealer. I love the formula of it and it has a medium/high coverage so it's able to cover and blemishes and dark circles you might have. The shade range is also really good as it specifies whether you have a pink or yellow undertoneon your skin.

My next product is my all time makeup must-have, it's the Rocket Volume Express Mascara. Many people love this mascara and so do I. It gives amazing volume without being clumpy and also does great job at lengthening your lashes too. If there was one products I told you to go out and buy it would have to be this one. Maybelline is famous for it's amazing mascaras and I have to agree on that. I have only tried this one but I can tell I will love them all and I can't wait to try more out.

Another product I absolutely love is the Maybelline Colour Tattoos. They are cream eyeshadows and were the first of their kind to hit the drugstores and for that reason many bloggers went crazy for them. They act as great bases for any eye look, but also look great on their own just swept across the lid. The colours I own are 'On and On Bronze' and 'Barely Branded' both are really versatile neutral shades.

Last but not least I have the Baby Lips, these are seriously hyped up in the blogging industry. I have done a post about them here. But if i'm honest there is nothing special about them, they are just plain/tinted lipbalms. They do moisturize my lips but not as good compared to other alternative lip balms.

Overall Maybelline is one of my favourite drugstore brands. Most of their products are high quality and affordable. I would highly recommend it as a starting of point for people beginning with makeup as they have everything you would need.

Brand Focus | Essie Nail Polish

Hello everyone and welcome to another new series on my blog, that's called brand focus. In this series I will be selecting a brand and doing an overall review on it. Today's focus is Essie nail polish's.

I have been collecting Essie for a year now and I have accumulated five of them. They are slightly more expensive than the usual drugstore nail polish, retailing for £7.99, however the formula of them is great quality and is really opaque no matter the shade, after two coats you are good to go. They are available to purchase at some Boots stores and most Superdrug's.

Shade - 'In Stitches'

Shade - 'Bikini So Teeny'

Shade - 'Mint Candy Apple'

Shade - 'After School Boy Blazer'

Shade - 'Soul Mate'

The shades I own are: 'After School Boy Blazer'; 'Mint Candy Apple'; 'In Stitches'; 'Soul Mate' and 'Bikini So Teeny'. All of these shades I love and there is a huge variety available. 'After School Boy Blazer' reminds me of licorice almost and is an almost black, blue shade. 'Mint Candy Apple' is a true pastel mint colour and is perfect for the spring time. 'In Stitches' is a more neutral toned down browny red. 'Soul Mate' is a deep red plum shade, great to wear in Autumn. Finally 'Bikini So Teeny' is a gorgeous perry-winkle blue shade, which has to be my overall favourite and my most recent purchase.

The overall finish of these nail polishes I love. Compared to my other nail polishes I own they last a lot longer and suffer less chipping. Nothing drives me madder than my nails chipping as soon as they have dried, but with Essie that doesn't really seem to happen. The only down side being that they do take alot longer to dry, which leaves you sitting around flapping your arms like crazy. The darker shades of Essie I would expect to stain my nails as they are so opaque and long lasting, however they are still easily removable and leave no stains on my nails. Although they are slightly on the pricier side of a drugstore nail polish I highly recommend you check Essie out. I will definitely be picking up more and more shades from them.
